Kochi: A CBI special court today relaxed for
three days the bail condition of Soofiya Madani, an accused in
Kalamassery bus burning case and wife of PDP leader Abdul
Nasser Madani, to enable her to visit him.
Special court judge S Vijaykumar passed the order on a
petition moved by Soofiya seeking relaxation of her bail
condition to meet Madani and children, who are in Kollam.
As per the bail condition, Soofiya cannot leave Ernakulam
district without the court`s permission.
The judge, while allowing Soofiya`s plea, said she should
not influence witnesses or tamper with evidence in the
Kalamassery bus burning case.
Soofiya is the tenth accused in the case in which
suspected Lashkar operative T Nazir is the main accused.
The state-owned Transport Corporation bus was set on fire
in 2005 allegedly to protest against the continued detention
of Madani in connection with the 1998 Coimbatore serial
The National Investigation Agency (NIA), probing various
terror related cases in Kerala, had objected to her plea.
In her petition, Soofiya had stated that Madani was an
accused in the Bangalore bomb blast case and there was a
warrant against him.
Last week, she had approached the court seeking deletion
of her bail condition, which was rejected by the court.
