New Delhi: Echoing the views of Rahul
Gandhi on the Mumbai blasts that it is "very difficult" to
stop every single terror attack, senior Congress leader
Saifuddin Soz on Thursday said things like these "can happen" in a
big country.
"India is a big country and things like these can
happen. We condemn the attacks. We have to be alert and we are
alert. Terrorism is not acceptable but there is no point
finding faults in the system, the chief minister or police in
Mumbai," Soz told agency on the sidelines of a book release
function here.

"The whole system must be geared to face terrorism. We
have a good consciousness in India that we have to eradicate
terrorism. Terrorism is a menace but we should not forget that
incidents like these can occur anywhere," the Union minister
Soz, however, said that he was not aware of the young
Congressman`s remarks.

Earlier in the day, Rahul said that though 99 per cent
of the terror strikes in the country were prevented due to
vigilance and intelligence, the aim is to achieve 100 per cent

"We will stop 99 per cent of terror attacks but one
per cent of attacks might get through. We must try to stop 100
per cent of attacks. It is something we will fight and

Rahul further said, "It is very difficult to stop
every single terrorist attack. The idea is that we have to
fight terrorism at the local level. We have improved in leaps
and bounds. But terrorism is something that it is impossible
to stop all the time."
