Speaker disapproves of mock Parliamentary proceedings

Speaker Meira Kumar on Friday disapproved of the mock Parliamentary proceedings with RJD leader Lalu Prasad donning the role of the Prime Minister and BJP leader Gopinath Munde posing as the Speaker.

"It is a temple of democracy that should be treated with
utmost reverence," Kumar said when asked about the
"proceedings" in the Lok Sabha after it was adjourned for the
day.
The House was adjourned after uproar by members
belonging to RJD, SP and BJP over salary hike demand and
protest against passage of Indian Medical Council Bill without
discussion.

They staged a dharna inside the well as soon as Deputy
Speaker Karia Munda adjourned the House and later staged a
mock session in which Munde, Deputy Leader of BJP, became the
Speaker and RJD chief Prasad posed as the Prime Minister.

Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav was given the
task of ensuring smooth functioning of the mock session.

During the mock session, which was attended by around 70
MPs, `debates` were held including on the Medical Council
Bill.
