New Delhi: Germany will consider granting citizenship to the twins born to a surrogate Indian mother and German biological parents if India issues them valid visa papers.
Thomas Matussek, the German Ambassador to India, told a news channel on Monday that his country will consider the case on humanitarian grounds. German law does not recognise surrogacy as means of parenthood.

A bench of Justice GS Singhvi and Justice Asok Ganguly gave the government a fortnight to settle the issue through diplomatic channels.
Solicitor General Gopal Subramanium told the bench that the External Affairs ministry is in touch with the German embassy on this issue and expects some positive solution to the problem at the earliest.
The bench adjourned the hearing to Jan 18.
