New Delhi: BJP leader Sushma Swaraj on Sunday
dubbed as "not fair" the denial of landing permission for her
chopper in Kochi to pick her up around the same time when
there was Prime Minister Manmohan Singh`s flight movement.

The Leader of the Opposition tweeted to express her
disappointment at the landing procedure drill as a result of
which she had to cancel a scheduled poll meeting in Kerala.

"Sorry, I could not address my meeting at
Edappal-Thavnoor yesterday because helicopter coming for me
from TVM to Kochi was not allowed to land," she said in the
microblogging site.

"And if the procedure is that when PM is to arrive, the
Leader of Opposition`s helicopter cannot land - that is really
not fair. The reason given was that PM was to arrive in Kochi.

I travelled to Trichur by road and could not reach Edappal,"
she said.

Prime Minister Office(PMO) sources said no flight was
diverted or disrupted because of the movement of Singh`s
aircrft.

The BJP yesterday objected to alleged denial of
permission to a helicopter of Swaraj to fly from Kochi to
Malappuram to address a public rally ostensibly as Prime
Minister Manmohan Singh was using the air route.

"When(Sushma) she reached the (Kochi)airport she was
informed that the helicopter which was to take her to
Malappuram was not allowed to take-off from Thiruvananthpuram
despite the flight plan being submitted and approved," BJP
spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy said.

Sushma has been campaigning in Kerala and Tamil Nadu for
the last fortnight.

Rudy was accompanying Swaraj when the incident took
place.

"The Prime Minister landed at Kochi naval aerodrome and
there was no reason whatsoever to disrupt her chopper movement
which was scheduled to land at Kochi civilian airport," he
said.
