Lucknow: A man wanted in connection with the July 2006 Mumbai train blasts and for 19 criminal cases in Uttar Pradesh was arrested here Friday, officials said.

Subhash Yadav was held early morning by Thakurganj police near Dhalia bridge, police said.

"We recovered two locally made pistols and some drugs from his possession. He is a history sheeter at the Ghatkopar police station in Mumbai and is wanted in 19 cases of murder, extortion and kidnapping," BP Ashok, superintendent of police (West), said.

"We are interrogating him to ascertain the motive of his visit to Lucknow," he added. There are 19 cases registered against him in Azamgarh district of Uttar Pradesh and a case is registered in the Ghatkopar police station in connection with the Mumbai train blasts.

"He (Yadav) is a native of Azamgarh and was involved in criminal activities in Mumbai for the past two decades. We suspect that he is a member of some underworld gang," Ashok said.
