Itanagar: Air Force has asked the Arunachal
Pradesh government to take steps against encroachments at
eight unused Advanced Landing Grounds (ALGs), recently taken
over by the Defence Ministry for their revival.
The request was conveyed by Air Marshal K K Nohwar, Air
Officer Commanding-in-chief, Eastern Air Command, when he
called on Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu and Governor J J Singh
separately after visiting the ALGs in the past two days.
Nohwar visited Pasighat, Tuting, Mechuka, Kaying,
Vijaynagar and Walong and apprised Khandu of the encroachments
at different ALGs.
Khandu assured him of prompt action against encroachers.
The chief minister told the Air Marshal that those ALGs
should be revived early so that they could be used for
airlifting essential items to cater to civilians in the border
areas, besides meeting defence needs. The ALGs will also help
boost tourism in the state, he added.
