New Delhi: Prominent members of Team Anna, Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia took stock of the preparations at the Ramlila ground Friday ahead of Anna Hazare’s proposed fast demanding a strong Lokpal bill.
Talking to media after the inspection, Arvind Kejriwal said, “The basic preparations are in place. Tents have been erected and if the number of people swells then they will be accommodated.”
He further added that the basic facilities for Anna are in place right behind the stage so that he doesn’t have to step down every time.
Regarding his association with Anna, Kejriwal said, “I am a soldier of Anna Hazare. I do whatever he tells me to.”
Answering a question about the participation of political leaders, Arvind said, “All the leaders from all the political parties are welcome but anybody from the political spectrum will not be allowed on stage.”
Meanwhile, with public support pouring in from every nook and corner of the country, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is also putting its best effort in preparing the Ramlila Maidan for veteran Gandhian’s agitation.
Delhi deputy Mayor, Anil Sharma, confirmed that preparations are in full swing and the cleanup operation at the Ramlila Ground is being carried at a fast pace.
Sharma told reporters, “The employees of MCD are putting their best effort to ensure the grounds are ready. It has been raining for the past three days so there is lot of water inside the ground and the land has become marshy.”
Interestingly, Sharma, on a personal note, said that MCD does not want to lag behind at a time when the entire nation is contributing in one way or another to Anna’s agitation, adding that MCD will make best efforts to ensure the success of the Anna’s movement.
