New Delhi: Rajya Sabha MP and JD(U) general secretary Shivanand Tiwari said on Monday that there should be an alliance between the Congress and his party.

"I feel that there should be an alliance between the Congress and the Janata Dal-United," Tiwari reportedly told the media.

Meanwhile, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar did not rule it out and chose to remain silent on the issue.

Nitish told reporters in Patna that a call on the matter will be taken after October. "Right now we have not considered the issue," he said.

He also blamed the BJP for spoiling the atmosphere for a non-Congress formation.

The seventeen-year old BJP-JD(U) alliance split in June this year on the issue of Narendra Modi being projected as his party`s prime ministerial candidate for 2014 General Elections.
