Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday sounded a security alert following a threat to blow up the Charbagh Railway Station in the state capital on Oct 02.

According to reports, the security arrangements were beefed up after the station master of the Charbagh Railway Station informed the authorities about a letter threatening to blow up the railway station on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

The letter was received on Wednesday evening.

The police have started checking the trains, railway parcels and frisking sensitive passengers at the railway station.

According to the railway official, the letter says that platform number 1, 2 and 3 will be targeted on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti.

Police are also trying to trace the two phone numbers that were mentioned in the letter.

However, the authorities investigating the case have claimed that the phone numbers mentioned in the letter might be for misleading the investigation.
