Together we can do lot for peace, prosperity in world: Japanese PM to Narendra Modi

Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Japan this weekend, his counterpart Shinzo Abe said on Thursday that together they could do “a lot for peace and prosperity in the world”.

New Delhi: Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Japan this weekend, his counterpart Shinzo Abe said on Thursday that together they could do “a lot for peace and prosperity in the world”.

Japanese PM took to Twitter to praise India and talk about Modi's impending visit.

Abe said, “India has a special place in my heart. I am eagerly waiting for your arrival in Kyoto this weekend,” and added, “Your first visit to Japan as Indian PM will add a new chapter to our strategic partnership.”

Modi re-tweeted what Abe posted on the micro-blogging site.

Modi also reciprocated the sentiments and wrote, “Friends from Japan asked me to talk to the people of Japan directly in Japanese. I also thank them for helping with the the translation.”

The Indian PM also posted a few tweets in Japanese.

Couple of days back Modi had said that he saw “Japan visit as an opportunity to take our ties with Japan to a new level and increase cooperation in various fields.”

He had also said, “Have very warm memories of visiting Japan as a CM. The hospitality and the immense scope for cooperation left a deep impression on my mind,” and had added, “Japan's friendship with India is time tested. We are two vibrant democracies committed to advancing peace and prosperity in the world.”

Modi is due to leave for Japan on August 31.

This is his first bilateral visit outside the subcontinent.
