Top seer writes to CM; claims mismanagement at Mahakumbh

A top seer has written a letter to the Uttarakhand Chief Minister alleging that the sadhus attending Mahakumbh were being charged money for water, electricity and land facilities.

Haridwar: A top seer has written a letter to
the Uttarakhand Chief Minister alleging that the sadhus
attending Mahakumbh were being charged money for water,
electricity and land facilities.

"Despite getting Rs 600 crore from the Centre for
providing facilities to sadhus and pilgrims attending the
Mahakumbh, the administration is charging money from them in
the name of providing electricity, water and accommodation,"
Shankaracharya of Govardhan peeth at Jagannath Puri, Orissa,
Swami Adhokshjanand Dev Teerth told reporters.

He said he had written a letter to Chief Minister Ramesh
Pokhariyal Nishank in this regard and alleged that the Mela
administration was tormenting sadhus and saints.

He also requested the Centre to appoint a high-power
committee which should take arrangements of Mahakumbh under
its control.
