New Delhi: Government today said difficult
working conditions were inhibiting young people from joining
the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), which was facing shortage
of 7,680 personnel.

"Hard and difficult working conditions in far flung
areas of the country, non-family stations, inclement
weather conditions, inhospitable terrain and militant
infestation inhibit young people from joining BRO," Defence
Minister A K Antony said while replying to a written Rajya
Sabha query.

BRO is deployed along the border areas and is responsible
for building a network of roads there.

The Minister said the organisation was short of around
660 officers against its sanctioned strength of 1540 `Group A`
officers.

Replying to another query, the Defence Minister said an
inquiry by Army`s Jaipur-based South-Western Command has not
found the involvement of ISI in the recruitment scam in Ajmer.
