Coimbatore: Just a few days ahead of the Independence Day celebrations across the country, the tricolour manufacturing business is booming in Coimbatore.

Last year, over two lakh cotton flags were produced and this year, with a new government at the centre, the manufacturers have produced over three lakh flags.
The flags are sent to various states like, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and within Tamil Nadu, around 5000 flags are produced daily.

"This year we are working day and night and our labour has also doubled," said a flag printer.
The flag manufacturers also said that they have manufactured tricolours for the past 40 years and 10 years ago the national flag production was very less but now the sales and production of flags has increased considerably.

While last year two lakh flags were sold, this year they hope to sell one lakh extra flags.

Also, new varieties like tricolour badges, bands, rings, balloons, hangings, had also arrived this year.
