Jalandhar: The tussle between Senior Deputy Mayor Kamaljit Singh Bhatia and Municipal Corporation staff came to an amicable end today with union leaders apologising unconditionally to Bhatia, who was manhandled by union leaders on February four in the Commissioner's office.

Condemning the incident, ministerial union president Narinder Singh offered unconditional apology on behalf of other MC unions in the presence of Mayor Rakesh Rathore, Deputy Commissioner Ajeet Singh Pannu, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) R K Jaiswal and Municipal Commissioner Vinay Bublani among others.

Union leaders Pawan Baba, Naresh Kumar and others welcomed Bhatia when he reached the corporation complex.

Mayor Rakesh Rathore said a preliminary investigation found that the secretary of MC Ashok Sharma allegedly provoked union leaders against Bhatia and accordingly disciplinary action against him was recommended to the government.

Bhatia along with 13 more SAD leaders had resigned from the primary membership of party and unions had announced indefinite strike after the manhandling episode.
