The deaths were reported from Maharashtra and Rajasthan. The total number of deaths has now reached 543.
While a maximum number of 97 fresh cases was reported from Delhi, Haryana and Rajasthan followed the list with 43 and 40 respectively.

Till date, samples from 83,580 people have been tested for swine flu in government laboratories and a few private laboratories across the country and 20.1 per cent of them have been found positive.

Of the 237 cases reported during the day, five have foreign travel history and all others are indigenous cases.

Toll reaches 220 in Maha

A total of 220 persons have so far died of swine flu in Maharashtra, health officials said on Monday.

Till date, 14,54,707 people have been examined for the virus, with 74,247 suspected patients being administered Tamiflu.

The number of persons who tested positive for the H1N1 influenza is 4,483, of which 4,218 have been treated and discharged.
Altogether 118 persons, including 45 positive and 73 suspected cases, are still being treated at various hospitals in the state, the officials said.

Isolation wards have been set up at 101 places and screening centres at 607 places in the state.
