London: King`s College London, one of Britain’s premier universities, today launched its 2013 International Summer schools programme in Mumbai and will run a similar programme in Delhi this year.

"I am pleased that we have been able to expand the range of Summer School courses on offer for students in India giving them the opportunity to learn and thrive from the expertise we have built over the past 180 years at a location convenient for them," said Professor Keith Hoggart, vice-principal (international) at King’s College London.

The college launched its international Summer Schools programme at an event held at Jai Hind College in Mumbai, which was attended by faculty from King’s and the principals of the city’s leading undergraduate colleges.

The Mumbai Summer School programme, which was introduced by the college last year, has grown in size and aims to develop links with educational, alumni and research communities.

King’s will also run its first summer school in Delhi in June this year, hosted at Miranda House College, University of Delhi.

"Students who attend our Summer Schools become part of the King’s global community. Further illustrations of this community are our large alumni branches in Mumbai and Delhi and our expanding research links, so it`s fantastic that these programmes will add to the portfolio of activities and partnerships that King’s is developing in India," said Professor Hoggart.

This year King’s India Summer Schools will include pre-university as well as undergraduate level modules, with courses offered in Delhi and Mumbai.

Scholarships have been made available on each course for the best and brightest students to study at King’s College London Summer School in July and August.
"King`s Summer Schools offer a unique opportunity for students in India to experience a taste of an international education close to home and develop the skills they will need to work in a global business environment," said Tayyeb Shah, director of executive education and summer programmes at King’s.
"We are also pleased to announce that this year King`s will be offering its first international pre-university programmes, which are designed to help school students develop into self confident young people able to make informed choices about their academic future," he added.
