Union Minister Jain escapes unhurt in road mishap

Damoh: Union Minister of State for Rural Development Pradeep Jain on Sunday had a close shave when his vehicle, rushing injured of a road accident to Jabalpur, overturned near Patan.

The Minister escaped unhurt in the accident which took place near Patan in Jabalpur district on Damoh-Jabalpur road, police said.

When Jain was coming from Jabalpur to Tendukheda in Damoh to attend a function, a jeep carrying nine youths were on their way to attend their friend's marriage to Jabalpur from Sagar district, turned turtle after one of its tyres went flat at Tandukheda area, killing four on the spot and injuring the rest, police said.

Jain noticed the injured and immediately rushed two of them who were critical to Jabalpur on a vehicle. He took the less severely injured ones to Tendukheda Primary Health Centre, but they too were referred to Jabalpur as their condition turned critical, they added.

The Minister in his vehicle along with the injured was enroute to Jabalpur when it overturned near Patan, police said.

The investigations were on, police said, adding that the death toll in the jeep accident had gone to five.
