Ranchi: Union Finance Minister Pranab
Mukherjee on Wednesday rubbished as "baseless" the charges by UP
government that a copter carrying Rahul Gandhi landed in
Sitapur district in poor visibility and that the Congress
General Secretary had not used a bulletproof car.
"The allegations are absolutely baseless," Mukherjee said
here without naming anyone.
"Rahul Gandhi knows the limitations of flying a
helicopter," Mukherjee said in reply to a query.
The UP Government yesterday shot off a letter to the
Centre over alleged violation of security norms during
Gandhi's visit to the state.
The letter alleged that the 39-year-old Congress leader
did not avail a bullet-proof car designated for him since he
was an SPG protectee and that his chopper had landed in zero
visibility conditions.
Gandhi himself had sought to stave off a controversy
saying that he had always followed the SPG's protocol.
