New Delhi: Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam
Singh Yadav on Thursday raised the issue of death of pilgrims in a
stampede in Pratapgarh district of Uttar Pradesh in the Lok
Sabha.
Raising the issue in the Lok Sabha, Yadav demanded that
government make a statement on the matter and seek a report
from the state government.
Later, Congress member from Pratapgarh Ratna Singh
demanded Rs five lakh as compensation to the next of the kin
of each deceased person.
Over 60 people were killed and 15 others injured in a
stampede today in an ashram at Mangarh area of Pratapgarh
district where nearly 10,000 people had converged for a
ritual.
