Lucknow: Left parties on Friday said by
"shielding" the corrupt and dealing with issues like price
rise in an "irresponsible" manner, the Congress-led UPA
government was inviting Egypt-like protests in the country.
"The UPA government at the centre is shielding the
corrupt and dealing with people`s issues like price rise in an
irresponsible manner and by doing so it is inviting peoples
outrage and Egypt like protests" leaders of CPI, CPM, Forward
Block and Revolutionary Socialist Party said in a joint press
meet here.

"The situation is coming to a point when it might
force Egypt-like protests in the country and the government is
also realising the same and the arrest of former Telecom
Minister, A Raja is indicative of this," CPI state secretary
Girish said.
State secretary of the CPM Sriparakash Kashyap, while
agreeing with Girish, said that Raja, in his statement, said
that all the works related to spectrum were taken with the
approval of the Cabinet and therefore the matter cannot be
closed with his arrest alone.

Kashyap said that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was
not disclosing the names of those who had deposited their
black money in foreign banks "as a majority of them belonged
to the Congress."

Questioning Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi`s
silence over the death of several ITBP candidates in a recent
accident in Shahjahanpur, state unit president of the Forward
Block Ram Kishore said that it goes on to prove his concern
for the youths of the country.

The leaders said that a rally would be organised by
trade organisations of the country in New Delhi on February 23
against price rise and other issues.
