New Delhi: In a sharp reaction to
government`s refusal to go for a JPC probe into the 2G
Spectrum allocation, BJP on Thursday said the UPA regime had become
a "complete prisoner" to alliance politics and had even made
CBI and CVC "pliable" to survive.

An aggressive Opposition has been mounting immense
pressure on the government in Parliament for ouster of Telecom
Minister A Raja over 2G spectrum scam.
"This government is a complete prisoner of alliance
politics. This government has no concern for probity,
cleanliness and for any form of accountability. Here is a case
where to common sense it appears that this man has cost the
exchequer so heavily by allotting Spectrum in 2007-08 at 2001
prices," senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley said.

He asserted that thought the CAG report on 2G Spectrum
allocation made clear the amount of corruption involved, yet
the government was not ready for a JPC probe.

"The CAG report merely reaffirms what is known on first
principles. You don`t need to be an accountant or an
investigator to find this out. Despite that the government is
unwilling to act," he said.
The Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha insisted that the
ongoing session of Parliament would be historic as it would
expose the "corruption" in government. He alleged that the
Congress-led regime had "corrupted" the CBI and CVC in order
to protect the guilty.

"They have already created an infrastructure for cover
up. A pliable, tainted CVC, a pliable CBI and then the
government goes to the court and takes an opinion saying we
are not in a position to take any action against him. The
truth is it is a huge, monumental scam. They want to let it go
because the alliance is shaky," he said.

Asked about his opinion on the government take that
there was no need for a JPC probe, Jaitley said, "We don`t
expect the government to prefer morality over survival. The
government has legitimately preferred an option which abandons
any form of accountability and just goes in by the
preservation instinct and self-survival."

He insisted that BJP would keep using public opinion and
the Parliamentary forum to pressurise the government for a
thorough probe into the scam.
