US Homeland Security Sec Napolitano meets Sibal

New Delhi: US Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano is understood to have met Communications and Information Technology Minister Kapil Sibal to discuss various issues related to cyber security of both countries.

Napolitano, who would be participating in the US-India Homeland Security Dialogue here tomorrow, met Sibal and the discussion is understood to have focused on cyber security issues, sources said.

Against the backdrop of rising terror threat, cyber security has become a key focus area.

The US-India Homeland Security dialogue would also discuss ways to evolve more effective steps for cyber security. Home Minister P Chidambaram would lead the Indian delegation.

The dialogue would also focus on coastal security, mega city policing, countering illicit financing and trans-national crime, among others.

Napolitano, who arrived in Mumbai yesterday, is the first dignitary from the US to visit India after President Barack Obama who toured the country in November last year.
