US nuclear scientists to visit IGCAR, MAPS

A delegation of five scientists from the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission are scheduled to visit two nuclear establishments in Tamil Nadu next week, Department of Atomic Energy sources said.

Chennai: A delegation of five scientists from
the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission are scheduled
to visit two nuclear establishments in Tamil Nadu next week,
Department of Atomic Energy sources said.

"Five scientists from US Nuclear Regulatory Commission
including its Chairman Gregory B Jaczko will be visiting
Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR) and Madras
Atomic Power Station (MAPS) (at Kalpakkam) between November 16
and 18," the sources said.

The team would also visit nuclear facilities in Mumbai--
(Tarapur Atomic Power Station and Bhaba Atomic Research
centre.)

The visit is to exchange information and share experience
on safety standards and regulations for the safe operation of
nuclear power plants.
