Lusaka: Vice-President Hamid Ansari was
on Tuesday accorded a rousing welcome on his arrival here in the
Zambian capital as India sought to enhance bilateral ties and
explore investment opportunities in Africa.
Enhancing trade ties with Zambia, Botswana and Malawi
will be the highlights of the week-long tri-nation visit of
Ansari.
Ansari is accompanied by his wife Salma Ansari, Union
Minister for Labour and Employment Harish Rawat, three MPs ---
D Raja, Anusuia Uikey and Jai Prakash Agrawal and senior
government officials.
Ansari was given a rousing welcome amid beating of
drums, traditional folk dance and music at Lusaka
international airport when he arrived here today evening.
He was received here by his Zambian counterpart George
Kunda. Indian High Commissioner Ashok Kumar were also there to
welcome Ansari.
