New Delhi: Vice President Hamid Ansari and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Thursday greeted the nation on the occasion of Eid and said the festival celebrates the spirit of brotherhood, love and compassion.
In his message on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr, Ansari said: "The festival celebrated with gaiety and piety all across the country reinforces the timeless message of universal brotherhood, love and compassion."
"May this auspicious day unite the country and bless us with peace, progress and prosperity," he said.
The prime minister said the festival marks the culmination of the holy month of Ramadan and celebrates the spirit of sharing and brotherhood.
"May this festival bring peace, prosperity and happiness," he added.
