New Delhi: Hours after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh made a personal appeal to Anna Hazare to end his fast, Union Science and Technology Minister and former Maharashtra chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh on Thursday held talks with the 74-year-old civil rights activist at Ramlila Grounds.
Deshmukh met Hazare with a message from the premier. However, he tagged his meeting with the Gandhian as personal.
“I requested him to call off his fast.”
Deshmukh also said the whole Maharashtra was worried about Anna’s health.
Reports claim that Anna and Deshmukh conversed in Marathi.
The government has appointed Deshmukh to negotiate with Anna Hazare and his associates. Notably, the former Maharashtra CM has had the experience of dealing with fasting Anna.
