Vinita Kamte, NCP leader selected for RTI Awards

Slain IPS officer Ashok Kamte`s widow Vinita and NCP leader Rajan Ghate were selected for a well-known RTI award instituted by a NGO engaged in promoting use of the Act.

Panaji: Slain IPS officer Ashok Kamte`s widow Vinita and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Rajan Ghate were selected for a well-known RTI award instituted by a NGO engaged in promoting use of the Act.
Vinita used the RTI act to retrieve information on the November 26, 2008 terrorist attacks in Mumbai, in which her husband was killed. While, Ghate was the whistle-blower against foreigners illegally purchasing lands in Goa.
Both are among the five recipients of the National RTI Awards 2010. The award is given by National RTI Secretariat in Uttar Pradesh, a press release said.
