Visa on arrival: Over 3000 availed since launch

Six months after government launched the Visa on Arrival (VoA) for citizens of five countries, 3,151 tourists have availed of the scheme so far.

launched the Visa on Arrival (VoA) for citizens of five
countries, 3,151 tourists have availed of the scheme so far.

The VoA was launched from January this year as a
facilitative measure to attract more foreign tourists to India
for citizens of Finland, Japan, Luxembourg, New Zealand and
Singapore, visiting India for tourism purposes.

According to an official release, from January to June
this year, 3,151 VoAs were issued under the scheme in which
tourists from Singapore accounted for maximum such visas.

While the number of tourists from Singapore availing
this visa was 1,040, it was followed by Finland with 802, New
Zealand with 768, Japan (521) and Luxembourg (20).

The maximum number of VoAs were issued at Delhi airport
(1,663), followed by Mumbai (689), Chennai (635) and Kolkata
(164).
