Mumbai: After grilling stock analyst
Gautam Vora twice, police probing the mysterious death of
supermodel Viveka Babajee will question him again to try to
"connect missing dots" in the case.
Police have so far recorded statements of the model`s
family members, friends, `boyfriend` Vora and her ex-boyfriend
Kartik Jobanputra in a bid to ascertain the reason that
triggered her to allegedly commit suicide.
However, they are still to come to a conclusion, a
senior police official said on condition of anonymity.
"We want to call Gautam for questioning again soon. It
would help us to connect the missing dots and come to a right
conclusion," the official said.
According to the official, there was no substantial
evidence to charge Vora with abetment to suicide of the model
and a mere line that `you killed me Gautam` in Babajee`s diary
was not enough to say he was the reason for her suicide.
When contacted Vora`s lawyer Rajendra Sorankar said,
"Vora had fully cooperated with police when he was called for
questioning earlier. He would continue to cooperate with them
in case he is asked to appear before them."
37-year-old Babajee, a former Miss Mauritius, was
found hanging from the ceiling at her Continental Towers flat
in suburban Bandra on June 25.
Fearing arrest on the charge of abetting Babajee`s
suicide as he had a heated argument with the model a day
before her death, Vora had approached a local court last week
The court had restrained police from arresting Vora on
the charge of abetment to suicide without giving him a 72-hour
During his previous questioning, Vora had told police
that he and Babajee were just friends and there was nothing
more than that.
However, Babajee`s family claimed Vora and the model
were in a relationship and released photographs, Internet text
messages exchanged between the duo and asked Vora to "come
out with all truth about Babajee".
