New Delhi: "Wait and see" was the cryptic reaction of Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee to a host of questions on the issue of next President of India.

"My answer is very simple. Wait and see", Mukherjee said in reply to the question by reporters on the issue of Presidential elections.

The name of Mukherjee, who is also the leader of the Lok Sabha is prominently doing the rounds as a presidential candidate along with the Vice-President Hamid Ansari.

Mukherjee was in a relaxed mood while having an informal chat with reporters at the dinner hosted by Parliamentary Affairs Minister PK Bansal.

When asked whether he sees a contest in the next presidential election as the name NCP leader PA Sangma has been announced by the BJD and AIDMK, he wondered when the presidential elections have gone uncontested.

"I do not think there has been an uncontested presidential elections..."

He also recalled in earlier days when Dharti Pakad used to be a permanent fixer till the rules were amended.

He steered the clear of questions when the government is bringing Lokpal Bill in the RS.
