Mumbai: Guess what underworld don Abu Salem and gangster Arun Gawli would be doing today (Saturday). Listening to running commentary of the India-Sri Lanka World Cup final on All India Radio!
Yes, authorities at the Taloja Jail have made arrangements at the prison for some 842 inmates to listen to a ball-by-ball account of the match on radio, a report said.
Officials said the radio commentary would be relayed to the inmates` cells through the public address system.
Had there not been a satellite reception problem in the jail, the considerate prison authorities would have even let the prisoners watch the match on television.
SM Chaware, superintendent, Taloja Jail, said a similar arrangement had been made for the India-Pakistan semi-final also.
While Salem was moved to the Taloja Jail from the Arthur Road Jail in July last year, Gawli has been languishing there for the past two years.
