New Delhi: Delhi Police Commissioner Y S Dadwal on Friday said police department had not recommended to city government for granting parole to Manu Sharma, who landed in controversy due to an alleged scuffle he and his friend had in a bar while he was out.

"We did not recommend (parole)," Dadwal told reporters here.

He said the city government had sought its report on Sharma, the convict in Jessica Lal murder case, and it had submitted a report.

"It is routine that government asks police before granting parole. Police sends its report. It is for the government to take a decision based on that. We had submitted the report when government asked us," he said.

A controversy erupted after Sharma, serving a life sentence for the murder of model Lal, along with a friend Sahil Dhingra was at LAP Lounge Bar on November 7 in violation of his parole norms which prescribed him to be in Chandigarh.

The duo also allegedly entered into a scuffle there.
