Bhopal: Congress general secretary, Digvijay Singh said on Thursday sought to know why Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat did not inform the CBI when he was in know of "doubtful elements" in the organisation, who were asked to leave it.

"I only want to say that, in case Bhagwat had information about such doubtful elements why he did not inform the police or the CBI about them," Digvijay told a news agency.

The RSS chief on Sunday had admitted in Gujarat that some of its members who held radical views were told to leave the organisation.

Singh said even now, if there were some "suspicious" elements in the RSS, it was Bhagwat's duty to tell the police or the investigating authorities about them.

The senior Congress leader asserted that time had come for the BJP and the RSS to introspect and find out "as to why unwanted elements had become associated with the Sangh Parivar."

Bhagwat had reportedly told a public meeting in Surat-- "Of the majority of the people whom the government has accused (in various blast cases), a few have left voluntarily and a few (have been) told by the Sangh…this extremism will not work here, so you go away."
