Will change format if IITs have better idea: Sibal New Delhi: Giving in to the IIT faculty and alumni, the government is understood to be considering accepting some of their demands like not taking plus-two board results into account for preparing the merit list under a new common entrance system for admission to undegraduate engineering courses.

Sources in the IIT faculty said that the government is considering this proposal to break the logjam over the proposed common entrance test.

They said that the ministry is actively considering not taking board results into account only for 2013 when the new system is implemented.

However, the faculty has no objection to include the board results from 2014 onwards.

According to the new system vetted by the IIT council, there would be a main test and an advance test which a student has to appear for admission to IIT and other centrally-funded technical institutes like NIT and IIIT.

Weightage will also be given to plus-two board results while preparing the merit list.

Meanwhile, the government would be asking the joint admission board of the IITs to finalise modalities of the advance exam, one of the components of the two-tier test.

IIT faculty and the alumni have been opposing the move tooth and nail, demanding that the new system should not be implemented before 2014.

They contend that the proposed common entrance test would undermine the autonomy enjoyed by the IITs and dilute the IIT brand.

Indications are that IIT Delhi senate, which is expected to meet on June 21, would also follow on the lines of IIT Kanpur. The latter has decided to hold its own entrance test following its rejection of the new system.

The faculty federation has already met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh voicing their opposition to the test, stating that they have been assured by him that autonomy of IITs will be maintained.

it should be implemented as soon as possible and should be opened to all the candidates including the droppers so that they may get a chance to improve and come up with the new system.it should be open to all the students . board marks should not be included in the 2013 exam .

Sibal`s real job is to create the environment in which schoo and college education standards improve, and lots of excellent new schools and colleges are born to cater to the huge demand in the country for good quality education, so that people do not have to think that IITs are the only decent places do study in. Instead, he is trying to fool the population by projecting himself as a crusader for their rights vis-a-vis the IITs.

Why does`nt Sibal improve the quality of the state boards and CBSE to bring them closer to the IITstandards wherein everybody will have an equal chance rather than giving weightages!!!!!!! which are absolutely meaningless and appears to be politically motivated or is looking for a place in history!!!!.

It is better to look at the positive aspects of the ISEET proposed. ISEET should be conducted from 2013 onwards. It will do away with multiple entrance examinations and reduce the stress levels of students. Weightage of Class 12 Board examinations should be consider for ISEET 2013 also

A person having a law degree should handle a law department. How can a non technical person, who should deal with the criminal putting hand into an field which is not of his expertise. Kapil sibal should think about the law exam not the IIT exam. Abviously he should think how the talent can be retained in the country without exporting to Italy.

Sometimes this surprises me quite a bit that instead of improving the basic education system or more precisely the primary education system of India how the ministry innovativley try to disturb the existing stable system as what we see in case of IITs. I want to place a simple query to Mr. Sibal that how much effort has been put forward by Your Govt. so far to address infrastructural hazards in different places of India across, I even found many people in India who dont` know even the name of IIT even. Mr. Sibal start addressing these issues, otherwise Your innovation might lead to a innovative dethrone of Your protfolio.

kapil sibbal should keep in mind that most of students giving exam in 2013 will also give vote in 2014. if this system affect anyone future there would also be no future for congress

Sonia during her schooling days then decided that she will bring in this reform through this smirking fatso called Kapil the Sibal and make the entire student community elope with excitement. Sonia was then only 12 and then she ran off to far western county in England and started selling toffees on the pavement in order to collect money to become chairperson of an Asian country. Seething with excitement then student-cum-hobbist, Rajiv Indira came to England to fall-in-love at-fight sight with Sonia. He dropped off from his studies as expected to be on par with Sonia’s intellectualism and went to introduce her to Mrs Indira. Seeing her credentials, Indira felt that India needed more than Indira and therefore gave her, her due place in the palace. She’s now the chairperson and therefore one of her ambitions close to heart about the best education for the most eligible students in country as is envisaged in her privately heldCongress party manifesto is being implemented. And who else would be the rogue-element for such a noble cause, of course, our own liar (please read lawyer) Kapil Sibal. Go ahead Mr Sibal, but at least make sure that these entrance examinations are not to be written in Italian language, b’coz the students passing out in 2013 don’t have time to learn new this language (of course, I mean, the students from the non-congress family lineage!!!!).

It is not a question of congress future but it is the question of Students Future. One decision is going to affect lacs and only 500 seats in loksabha. The better sense should prevail and confusion among the minds of student should be erased by firm decisions by not playing cat and mouse game
