With Sonia Gandhi returning from abroad after her surgery, the high-level four-member committee she had set up to look after party affairs in her absence has ceased to exist.

abroad after her surgery, the high-level four-member committee she had set up to look after party affairs in her absence has ceased to exist.
Gandhi had constituted the committee comprising Rahul
Gandhi, her political secretary Ahmed Patel, Defence Minister
A K Antony and party general secretary Janardhan Dwivedi
before she left for abroad for medical treatment.
A senior leader said that with the party chief back, the
committee has automatically got dissolved as it was tasked to
look after the organisation only in her absence.
The Congress President returned yesterday morning after a
month long stay abroad for treatment of an undisclosed
Gandhi has not been meeting people since her return.
Though she heads the Congress core group, she did not attend
its first meeting held this evening, which was attended by all
other members including Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Meanwhile, a meeting of the party general secretaries and
in-charges of various states has been convened tomorrow to
take stock of the political situation. They will later prepare
a report on the situation for Congress President Sonia Gandhi.
Tomorrow`s meeting of the committee assumes significance
in view of BJP leader L K Advani`s plan for a countrywide
yatra against corruption.
