Won`t allow mosque at disputed site: VHP

VHP won`t not allow a brick to be laid for the construction of a mosque at disputed site.

Chandigarh: The VHP on Tuesday said construction of a new mosque will not be allowed at the disputed Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri masjid land in Ayodhya at any cost even if a lot of sacrifices need to be made to ensure that.

"We will not allow construction of any new mosque even if we have to make 40 lakh sacrifices for this. We demand enactment of a law by Parliament for building of a Ram temple in Ayodhya," VHP General Secretary Praveen Togadia told reporters here.

Claiming that the judiciary had supported the VHP`s stand that the site was the birth place of Lord Ram, he said, "the case was of titleship and not partition. To ensure that not even a single inch of Ramlalla`s land is given for construction of a mosque, Supreme Court will be moved soon by Hindu groups."

"We will not allow even a brick to be laid for the construction of a mosque in Ayodhya and only construction of Ram temple will take place in the entire 67 acres of land," Togadia said, adding that the VHP has launched a nationwide campaign in this regard.
He said the party received a certified copy of the Allahabad High Court verdict on the Ayodhya title suits about three weeks ago and there was still over a month left before they can move the Supreme Court.

Togadia criticised Hurriyat leaders Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Mirwaiz Umer Farooq for "raising questions" on the status of Jammu and Kashmir.
"These persons should be booked for sedition. There is a need for defeating the ideology of those advocating terrorism and extremism and no leniency should be shown towards such people," he said.
