New Delhi: As the fight for a strong anti-graft Lokpal Bill reaches decisive stage with government agreeing to almost all the demands of the civil society, prominent member of Team Anna and former IPS officer Kiran Bedi on Wednesday clarified that they will not budge from their demand of bringing all the state Lokayukta’s under the purview of Lokpal panel.
Talking to a private TV channel from Ramlila Maidan, Bedia said, “We will not budge till the government agrees to bring all the state Lokayukta under the purview.”
“It is very important that the government agrees to bring the lower bureaucracy under the purview of Lokpal,” she added.
Clearing the air over the talks between the civil society and the government, Bedi said, "We have made considerable progress. On some points the government says they will revert to us."
She said till the government gives a written commitment, Hazare`s fast will go on. "Anna is unrelenting till he gets a firm commitment in writing," she said, adding he would have called off his fast if the commitment had come by now.
Bedi said she wished that government had initiated talks earlier.
"Pranab Mukherjee said he will consult others in the government and get back. He will tell us in the morning. We have to meet once or twice," she said.
