Youth attempts self-immolation at Bihar CM`s meet

Bhabhua: A 25-year-old man allegedly tried to to set himself ablaze at Chief Minister Nitish Kumar`s public meeting in Kaimur district on Friday but it was foiled by alert security men, officials said here.

Sanjay Gupta was taken into custody after he whisked out a bottle of kerosene and started pouring it on himself while standing near the lamps just as Kumar began his speech at the `Biswas Yatra` at Kudra, they said.

Later, Gupta said that he had tried to take the extreme step as the district authorities had failed to get him a piece of a land, allegedly owned by him and occupied by a Congressman, they added.
