Washington: Sony Pictures has acquired the movie rights to the Facebook`s chief operating officer (COO) Sheryl Sandberg`s book "Lean In" based on female-empowerment.
According to Cnet, the "LeanIn.org" foundation, which technically owns the rights to Sandberg`s book, licensed the name to Sony.
All proceeds from the licensing deal will go to the foundation, and not to Sandberg, the report added.
The adaptation of "Lean In: Women, Work, And The Will to Lead," published last March, will not be a biopic of Sandberg, instead it will revolve around the themes presented in the book.
Sandberg`s " Lean In" writing partner, Nell Scovell will be penning the movie narrative, the report added.
