Facebook tracking all visitors, even non-users: EU report

Washington: According to a new report by the Belgian Privacy Commission, Facebook is monitoring the browsing habits if European users including those who have explicitly opted out of tracking and individuals who do not have a Facebook account.

According to the Verge, Facebook is in breach of European law and is also ignoring the data rights of the users requiring them to have tracking cookies placed on their computers.

Facebook's habit of monitoring users' browsing habits has been under scrutiny in Europe for several months now.

Facebook continues to violate European consumer protection laws in spite of the changes made to its privacy policy in January.

A section of the report said that Facebook receives the Facebook ID and browser ID, along with the URL of the page being visited when a logged-in Facebook user visits a site with Facebook social plug-ins.
