Google doodle goes `romantic`, plays Claude Debussy`s `Clair de lune`

Google on Thursday celebrated 151st anniversary of French composer Achille-Claude Debussy with an animated and musical doodle synchronised on the piano strings set on one of his famous pieces ‘Clair de lune’.

New Delhi: Google on Thursday celebrated 151st anniversary of French composer Achille-Claude Debussy with an animated and musical doodle synchronised on the piano strings set on one of his famous pieces ‘Clair de lune’.

The doodle features a moonlit riverside scene with music playing in the background. It also features flashing streets lights, a windmill, shadow of cars, boats and cyclists passing by.

The animated doodle ends with two people in different boats sharing a red umbrella while its raining.

Debussy was born in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, France, on 22 August 1862. He was one of the most prominent figures associated with Impressionist music. He was just seven, when he started taking piano lessons in Cannes. In 1884, he won the Grand Prix de Rome with his cantata L`Enfant prodigue (The Prodigal Child) when he was just 22 years old.

Some of the composer`s major works include Prelude a l`apres-midi d`un faune, Pelleas et Melisande, Suite Bergamasque, La Cathedrale Engloutie and La Mer.

He died on March 25, 1918 due to rectal cancer at his home in Bois de Boulogne in Paris.
