Google mail delivery delayed due to `dual network failure`

Search giant Google has said the delay in message delivery on Tuesday was caused by a dual network failure due to which redundant systems stopped working at the same time.

Wellington: Search giant Google has said the delay in message delivery on Tuesday was caused by a dual network failure due to which redundant systems stopped working at the same time.

The Gmail team explained that a rare, double-SNAFU was to blame for the delay, Stuff.co.nz reports.

The problem caused at least a brief delay in the delivery of about 29 percent of messages across the system, with about 1.5 per cent of messages being delayed more than two hours, the report added.
It took 12 hours for the Gmail to function perfectly again.
