New Delhi: As India celebrates its 69th Independence Day today, Twitter is also coloured with the patriotic zeal as it offers you a new tricolour emoji- a new Twitter feature that embeds a small Indian flag along with the tweets.
"By using hashtag #India when composing a Tweet, the Indian tricolour will appear after those hashtags in the sent Tweet," says Twitter.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the new emoji on Independence Day this morning with a tweet.

"The feature gives Twitter users a fun way to Tweet, share and celebrate the historic day with Indians and supporters of India worldwide."
This feature, however, will only be active till the midnight of August 16.
However, this new feature had its share of criticism too. Activist Kavita Krishan didn't quite seem happy with this new development and she tweeted the following:
And why is Twitter automatically adding the tricolour flag to the India hashtag? Pl let us do our own editing and embellishment Twitter!
