LinkedIn faces flak over real-life `attractive` female engineers ads

Popular job networking site LinkedIn had to reportedly re-post ads after they were pulled off for showing female engineers considered too attractive to be real-life engineers.

Sydney: Popular job networking site LinkedIn had to reportedly re-post ads after they were pulled off for showing female engineers considered too attractive to be real-life engineers.

According to News.com.au, developer network TopTal had posted a series of advertisements on the site with a mixture of male and female staff, with the aim of attracting new clients and employees but LinkedIn had inexplicably disabled the ads.

TopTal CEO Tasu Du Val said that it was extreme sexism within the tech community on LinkedIn who saw it as impossible that their female engineers could actually be engineers and the site agreed with them.

Du Val further wrote in his blog that the company`s ads were banned from showing anything except 100 percent all male software advertisements and added that he was disappointed both on personal and professional level.

Meanwhile, LinkedIn spokeswoman said that the ads were rejected in error while the customer service team was going through the standard review process and the site has taken corrective measures following which TopTal can now run the same ads as intended, the report added.
