Washington: Internet is reportedly abuzz with a new style trend called the normcore that has youngsters dressing up like bland '90s-era dads.

The idea is to stand out in the crowd by adapting the "anti-fashion era" look wearing athletic shorts, New Balance sneakers and fleece zip-ups or anything that would make one look anonymous.

According to Mashable, there are plenty of theories regarding why millennials are attracted to the trend, but the prevailing theory suggests that it's a way for them to reject the idea of "buying in" to a particular style.

Meanwhile, a mix of critical and bemused reactions on the latest style trend is doing the rounds on the internet with most of the social posts and tweets focusing on normcore.
