New Delhi: The photo-sharing site 'Instagram' now stands next to Facebook and Twitter in terms of popularity. Created by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger, the app was launched in October 2010. However, Instagram gained popularity only in April 2012, with over 100 million active users.

Instagram is an online photo-sharing and video-sharing app that enables the users to click pictures, record videos and share it on the site. The users can also upload the photos and videos via Facebook, Twitter.
The app was first launched as an iPhone app on October 6, 2010. It made one million users by December 2010, which doubled in two years time.
Instagram release it's video-sharing function by June 2013 and then around 5 million videos were uploaded within the first 24 hours.
The Android version of the app was launched on April 3, 2013. Over one million times in less than 12 hours the app was downloaded since its release.
