White House launches official Google + page Washington: The White House has launched an official Google + page with the aim to engage with Americans on the issues that matter the most.

The addition of the White House to Google’s social network follows President Barack Obama’s decision to the site in November.

According to Politico, the administration announced in a blog post that it joined Google+ as a part of its commitment towards public engagement and participation.

“On day one, President Obama made clear that this Administration is committed to public engagement and participation. That’s why we launched the We the People petitioning tool and why you can find the White House on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and other places around the web,” the administration said.

“These are just some of the ways that we aim to engage with Americans on the issues that matter the most -- and now, we're pleased to add Google+ to this list,” it added.

The White House already has a Twitter and Facebook page.
