Agatha says electorate should follow Bihar way
Praising Bihar Cm Nitish Kumar, Union Minister of State for Rural Development Agatha Sangma said people should elect honest people as done by the electorate in Bihar.
Shillong: Praising Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Union Minister of State for Rural Development Agatha Sangma on Monday said people should elect honest people as done by the electorate in Bihar.
"He (Nitish Kumar) changed every equation in Bihar and the people voted for him because he did exceedingly well to bring changes in the common man?s life. Only people can get rid of corruption," Sangma said.
She said that people elsewhere should exercise such prudence and elect honest people who would dedicate their work to the people.
"To get rid of corruption, people must be part of the solution," she told reporters, after reviewing the PMGSY schemes implemented in Meghalaya.
Sangma said that there was a lot of cynicism amongst the people towards all politicians were corrupt, which was not true. "Corruption is not confined to political levels, as it has entered various aspects."
Sangma said people were more aware of their rights and therefore being increasingly brought to the public domain.
"The people and the media are more vigilant these days and none can escape after committing wrong," she said.
