Guwahati: Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) president
Chandramohan Patowary today alleged that the ruling Congress
in Assam came to power with the ULFA`s help and peace talks
with the outfit was just an attempt to mislead the public.
Patowary told reporters here "that it is an open fact
that the ruling Congress came to power with the help of the
banned outfit and there are photographs of Chief Minister
Tarun Gogoi with the ULFA Commander-in-Chief Paresh Barua`s
mother Miliki Barua."
"Talks about the peace process is just an attempt to
mislead the public and they are just talking about it to cross
the hurdles of assembly elections next year," he said.
Referring to Gogoi`s lambasting of the AGP at the
function organised to mark the Congress government`s
completion of four years of its second term here yesterday,
the AGP president alleged that the ruling party brought in
"rented audience" to launch their election campaign.
It is "the Congress, and not us, who needs to give a
white paper on the details of how and where Central funds for
various schemes have been utilised," he added.
